So this is it: I’m starting a blog about LCHF (low carb high fat diet) and exercise. My name is Margit Partei, I’m 21 years old and from Estonia. I’m currently studying Economics and Business Administration at the University of Tartu, starting my last year of Bachelor’s degree in autumn 2013.
I started with LCHF and a healthy lifestyle in general in February 2013. As of today, I have lost almost 18 kilograms (40 pounds). I have struggled with weight all my life. First time I went on a “diet” was back in 2005, I was 13 years old. The diet was Weight Watchers. Had success, minus 8 kilograms. But it came back over time. Since then I have tried a bit of Atkins and other diets and just being healthy.
But they all came down to one thing: gaining the weight back.
So on the 15th of February 2013 I weighed 85,5 kilograms (188 pounds). Yes, you read that right. 85,5. And I’m only 167 cm (5 foot 6 inches) tall. My BMI was 30,7 – that’s obesity. My mom introduced me to LCHF. She found out about it through a coworker. Eating twice a day… butter, meats, cheese, coconut oil etc – how could this work, I wondered.
On the 16th of February, my new life began.
At first I read the basic intro to LCHF on DietDoctor’s site. You can read it here: http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf I began to follow those instructions. Over time I researched more and starting doing 20 grams of carbs per day. In the first weeks I had more, about 50 grams a day. Still lost a lot of weight. Sure, some weeks I didn’t lose anything, but that didn’t stop me. Now I weigh 67,8 kilograms. And my next goal is 63 kilograms.
During those 18 weeks on LCHF I have done, I have found a lot of great blogs and Instagram accounts, majority in Swedish. So I felt the need to start my own blog in English so almost everyone can understand it. I will give my thoughts, opinions, recipes, tips and much more.
Hope you have fun reading! 🙂
